So... Anybody heard if Disney considers the LWW movie to have
been successful enough at the box office to warrant making a
film version of _Prince Caspian_?

The film made over $690 million, worldwide, so far. It is the #3
moneymaker of 2005 (determined by date of release), next in line behind
Goblet of Fire and Revenge of the Sith. The next two moneymakers
(rounding off the top five) are King Kong and War of the Worlds.

Despite the high budget, this was certainly a moneymaker. At least one
more sequel is inevitable.

Outstanding! Can't wait, and I'm pretty sure my three daughters
can't wait, either. Smile

Will we once more get to see griffins drop rocks on the opposing army?

Nope. Prince Caspian will, however, present us with the incredible
sight of flying elephants shooting peanuts at people.

...

Oh. Nope. Sorry. Right company, wrong film.

I liked the idea of bombing (Peter having learnt it from the Blitz), but I
was disappointed they just used rocks. I'd expected holy water or
something.

Where would Peter have gotten holy water, especially on such short notice? I
did not see any priests in Narnia.

What good would holy water do? I did not see any vampires in the witch's army
in the climatic battle!

Apples from the tree in MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW? Although of course that tree
hadn't been invented yet. <g,d,r>

The purpose of that tree was to keep Queen Jadis out of Narnia. Since she was
obviously IN Narnia during LWW, that tree must have been dead, so Peter wouldn't be
able to get anything from it!

If Peter had tried to get anything from either the Narnia tree or its parent tree
inside the gates, he would have turned evil.

Interesting comments about holy water but I do not see where anyone
could get that in Narnia. I know the Narnia books are christian in
symbolism but holy water does not appear to have been a part of the
social geography of Narnia.

And it isn't a protestant phenomenon anyway.

I don't remember reading Lewis writing about holy water, relics[1] and
such.

Anyone?
