I find it very difficult to watch this depiction. Very nearly everything in
it is wrong. I could go into detail but it would take all day. But I will
mention, because I find it of utmost importance to do so, that Lestat was
not made a vampire by Marius, but by an old vampire by the name of Magnus.

The movie was a farce. A useless piece of trash which under no uncertain terms
resembles, not even slightly, the amazing stories Anne told in her book of the
same name. I found the acting bordering on high school play acting. The way
they depicted Anne's vampires is completely off base, as well. Nobody was
named. Which was Maharet? I mean, this movie was possibly the worst adaptation
of a book, I should say of two books, I'd ever seen.

There is no way you can combine The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned, put
the script into the hands on some of the worst actors in film and come out with
any semblance of the version Anne wrote. I think of all people, Anne is the
final authority on her work.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

EXACTLY!! I like the way you think. ... just like me Smile I actually got in
trouble quite a few times for being too loud in the movie theater trying to
express my outrage at the monstrosity that is this terrible movie. I hope
that they do a better job with Ramses. If they don't I'm going to do the
only thing us Canadians do well... write a letter. lol. jk.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I stupidly paid good money to see this trash, which I swore I would never
do, because I just couldn't believe that the script online was the real one
and I wanted so badly for it to be good!
My hubby and I went to see it two weeks after it opened, the evening
matinee. There were thirteen people in the theatre. My husband fell asleep
and snored, and nobody cared!

I got more fun out of watching the background stuff--like seeing a copy of
Mojo magazine at the concert scene and the grafitti on the wall that Armand
was leaning up against someone wrote "you were the Lizard King".

After we got home, Iwent to a website and looked up the characters, to find
out who played who, because as was stated, very few were named. My
husband's comment "That fat, blonde kid was ARMAND? Oh my god!"

Unless Cameron is involved big time, I'm not letting myself get my hopes up.

I'm not Canadian (well, my grandparents were born in Quebec, does that
count, eh?) and I did write a letter. So far I haven't heard a word and
don't expect to. Money talks and enough people like me paid to see it
regardless. They got what they wanted.

I'm not too sure, but doesn't James Cameron has the rights to The Mummy: Ramses
the Damned? If so, it will be a great film. If Geffen and his group have it,
it will be a great film. Anyone other than Cameron or Dreamworks and I believe
it will suck.

Interview with the Vampire was perfect as a film from a book could be. They
left out some key points, but at the very least they did express a sense of time
line.

I will re-iterate.

The movie was filmed in a 2 month period on location in Melbourne, Mt Martha
Beach, The 12 Apostles... etc. It had to be filmed quickly before the option
to the rights ran out.
Therefore it missed a lot of the salient points (I, too, wondered where
Maheret was) and I found it wrong in the sense that it was an ADAPTATION
from the novel, which seems to give all producers etc the right to simply
remove bits they can't film due to budget constraints and so on.
