I read that rab has moved to Facebook or some other forum. Anyone know how
to join it?

Some RAB members and ex-members have done so, but the Facebook message format
is so clunky that it is no substitute for RAB. Facebook is useful for keeping
in contact, but no use for keeping up with discussions.

I received an array of invitations to join Facebook from R.A.B.
regulars some months ago, but didn't feel like registering. May have
even tried to register but got bogged down in some sort of software
conflict.

I miss the good old days here.

Hi David,

So do I. I have no interest in joining Facebook.
Discussions about books and words need only words.

Just finished: Stephen L. Carter, New England White (2007)
- excellent! Novel with a mystery or two set in New
Haven, Connecticut, with a great deal of literary and word
play, as well as ethical conflicts.

Reading: G.H.C. Macgregor, Commentary on the Gospel of John
(1928) - Well, I am reading the Introduction which is quite
fascinating as it describes the text as written as, at least
in good part, a polemic against a Jewish sect in Ephesus
(and maybe elsewhere) that proclaimed John the Baptist as
the Messiah, and that the text involves at least a moderated
gnostic approach to Christianity and certainly one greatly
influenced by Philo's platonism.

I joined, but only look at Facebook once or twice a week, and never see
anything of the RAB people, because when I'm on, I always forget to look.

So do I.

Me too! (You can tell an old r.a.b.ster by the bottom-posting Smile

It has probably been a decade since I read a book based on a r.a.b
recommendation. In the past, I read several a year -- all books I
might not have otherwise come across, and all really interesting
in some respect. sniff....I miss that....

Can we somehow reconvene the r.a.b.ble?

If enough people start posting interesting stuff, perhaps we can rebuild.

Not at all. You may post all you like, as well, and many of us will
probably shift comfortably back into ignoring you.

Okay, anybody here got any opinions on the later works of William
Burroughs?

I've just got "Last Words" but I'm wondering if it'll make much
sense if I haven't read "Cities of the Red Night" and the books
that followed it. I've read the earlier ones up to "Exterminator".

Can't help you there, but an 18 megabyte .mov file of Burroughs spouting a
poem is at http://download.yousendit.com/08BD33C81CFC13D0

If you post a snide remark, you're most likely going to elicit same.

How does that fit in with the grand ignoring strategy?
And how is it known what is a honest remark or a snide one?

Rhetorical questions, just, keep on kindly ignoring me, mates.
