Have we ever been told, or has anyone done any deductive reasoning on, what
RAMJAC stands for? Jailbird was the second-to-last KV novel I've read
("Sirens" being the last -- I hope to get to it next), and, although I know
RAMJAC has been mentioned before, I don't recall it playing as big a part in
other novels as it has in this one. If anyone here knows if it stands for
anything conrete, I would love to know. Thank you. DD

In JAILBIRD, RAMJAC was once a small company but was transformed by
multimllionaire mining engineer Jack Graham, who developed it into a
multinational corporation. After Graham's death in 1952, his wife, Mary
Kathleen O'Looney, took control. She hired Arpad Leen to serve as
president and chairman of the board. His only orders were to acquire as
many properties as possible, and at its height, RAMJAC controlled
nineteen percent of everything in the country. Mary Kathleen's Las Will
and Testament left RAMJAC to the American people, but government saw
its liquidation as the answer to its short-term economic woes rather
than managing the enterprise and realizing a steady income.

The copyright for DEADEYE DICK, Vonnegut's succeeding novel, is held by
The RAMJAC Corporation.

The above explanation is from my book, THE VONNEGUT ENCYCLOPEDIA
(Greenwood Press). I know you are looking for some sort of anagram
solution, but this is the most that can be gleaned from the text.
