Llewellyn's yearly Witches' Calendar is always a joy to check out. Each
year you can count on certain things being there: Moon phases,
astronomical/astrological data, and colors for each day. There are also
memorable birthdays and events in the history of Paganism, and other
significant "firsts". But what makes it such a joy is the illustrations and
articles.
The pages are large enough to be easily readable and to hold the myriad
short notes we all need to keep somewhere visible. Each month also contains
a quick reference to correspondences for the colors of the days, for those
who are new to the path, or who sometimes need to jar their memory.
This edition contains short articles on "Working with Spirit Guides,"
"Magical Dance," "Visions of Gaea," "Power and Responsibility," "Celebrating
the God," and "Fairies in the Garden." While these are all fairly short
articles, they are written by people who really know their subjects, and if
they don't inspire to check out some further writings, I would be greatly
surprised.
Say what you will about Llewellyn (we all know there are folks who don't
like them, for whatever reason), at least they make a concerted effort to
provide the Pagan community with a wide variety of calendars, almanacs, date
books, etc., at a price most of us can afford without having to make major
sacrifices.
