Perhaps I should search google for TBC discussions ... but I enjoyed it.
Certainly more than, say, DREAM PARK, a total D&D wankfest.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Oddly enough, I enjoyed both of those. It took me quite a while to get
the hang of TBC, though - I find all Niven's 'magic' books to be a little
difficult. (But then, my library has Ursula leGuin's 'Earthsea' stuff
right next to Clive Barker, Asimov, Heinlein, and PKD, so my tastes might
be somewhat eclectic Wink

No spoilers.

I was running behind on the book--I didn't pick up a copy until last
Monday--and over three reading sessions I finally finished the book
tonight.

I liked it. It's different than any of the other books, the writing
is leaner, more spare. There's a lot of exposition, as characters
bounce theories past one another to be confirmed or denied. It ends
with some closure, but different avenues to explore have been opened.
As much as I'd like to see a Known Space novel set anywhere -but- the
Ringworld just to expand the focus a bit, I have to admit I'm mightily
curious to see what happens next.

It's not the book for someone just discovering Known Space or the
Ringworld--there's too much assumed knowledge on the part of the
reader to really be reader-friendly, though references to past books
in the series are given some brief explanation.

Recommended.
