....which is a very good read and sports photographs of celebrity corpses
and the like. Written in a hilariously cheerful Church of Satan sort of
style. There's a sequel to it that's even more gruesome.

OK, whatever you say.

On reviewing the lyrics -- which I admit are saucier than I remembered --
there's a bit with some actual relevance to this newsgroup's more habitual
topics.

"...Join the monks
The C.I.O.
Tell 'em all
That Tiny Montgomery says hello..."

Interesting because "Desolation Row" has that line about

"...Einstein disguisted as Robin Hood
with his memories in a trunk
passed this way an hour ago
with his friend, a jealous monk...."

I've often wondered if that referred to Guthrie and Seeger, given that "jealous
monk" is not a bad description for Seeger's reputed behavior at Newport, etc.
Put together with the above, it could suggest that "the monks" is some kind of
Dylanese for the Communists.

But a quick Google suggests Montgomery Clift didn't do much of anything
prominent in the Cold War, so I still dunno about your theory

/M
