After some thought, I decided that the infoboxes don't really need the
characters' height. Now I'm just trying to figure out why the infobox
refuses to work in the Thomas Theisman article (I pasted it into the
Discussion section if anyone wants to poke it with a stick)

Nevermind, I'm just a retard. Didn't have enough closing brackets.
Works now.

Actually they do. The height/size of some of these people is interesting.

Lots of references to her liking to swim, and none to her have to work
to stay afloat, so she can't be much denser than anyone else. Even a
couple of pounds of negative buoyancy make a big difference to how hard
it is to swim.

Lots of muscle mass, very fast metabolism (she eats chocolate chip
cookies and her body breaks them down and converts them into nutrients
faster than her hips can say "Can we have some?"), and pretty tall, so
she'd be fairly heavy, but graceful enough that it probably wouldn't
occur to a random person looking at her.

Both David and i are heavier than we look, and always have been (i
shall not discuss how much *i* weigh these days, and have no idea how
heavy Dave is), because we are four to six inches shoerter than our
overall build says we ought to be - Very Short Legs, inherited from
our maternal grandfather who was half-a-head or more shorter than me
[Dave is four inches taller than i], and an inch of torso (where we
both have our height) weighs a lot more than an inch of leg...

Well, I suppose it's possible that Honor is just that much of a hoss,
but being able to swim easily seems to run kind of counter to someone
with as low a body/fat ratio as Honor is implied as having. I mean,
it's possible that she's impressive in more areas than her tactical
ability and martial arts ability, ifyaknowwhatImean (*insert joke about
Honor owning large areas of land on Sphinx and Grayson*), but I don't
think we've ever been given anything in the books to go on for that.

Guys swim faster than females but they don't float as well when they are
lean and they use more fuel to do it. I suspect Honor was a good swimmer but
maybe not as good at floating as a woman would have been expected to be.

I used to be unable to float, even after taking a deep breath, and had
no difficulty swimming.
I sort of remember her discussing being unable to float due to her
denser muscle structure. >> Stay informed about: Random question: Honor Harrington's height, weight, and ey.. |

The 188cm has shown up in other places. The Saganami Island Tactical
Simulator gives her height as 188cm and her weight as 70kg. The
weight number is blatantly wrong, and is probably the result of
someone looking at her weight in kg, seeing the number is way bigger
than he expected, assuming it was meant to be in pounds, and
converting that number to kg. This puts Honor Harrington at slightly
over three hundred pounds (152kg), which, for a well muscled and dense
individual, is not too heavy (except to float easily), especially one
who is about the same height as the governor of California.
The closest Honor ever came to 70kg was during her stint on the Tepes,
when her jailor miscalculated how much food she needed. When I was 19
years old, I was 191cm and about 85kg. I was rail-thin. If I
inhaled, you could see the lowest eight pairs of ribs. There is no
way that Honor is 70kg, in fighting trim. >> Stay informed about: Random question: Honor Harrington's height, weight, and ey.. |

bear in mind women are build differently than men are and will weigh
quite a bit less at a given height. 300 lb is an awfully large woman
even allowing for being a genie with a bit denser muscle etc. >> Stay informed about: Random question: Honor Harrington's height, weight, and ey.. |

I looked her up in a couple of "Ideal weight for height" charts, and
70kg would put her pretty much in the middle of the range for a medium
framed woman of her height. (I had to do a little extrapolating, since
they usually only went to 6'.)
