I may have been mistaken about where the 70kg comes from. However, if
you read the small print on the bottom of that chart that comes up
first, when goggling for height weight charts for women, you will
notice that it assumes the woman has three pounds of indoor clothing
on, and is wearing 1" heels. A particular problem with the
Metropolitan Life table, in particular (which puts the middle of a
medium built woman at about 70kg, if she is 6') is that the average
woman who is 6'2" would be considered to be about forty pounds
overweight (at least).
Honor harrington may not be 150kg. However, she is much more than
70. My guess for where the 70 came from could be wrong, but a better
guess than 154 pounds is 220 (which puts her thirty pounds heavier
than my sister-in-law, who is only 5'10" and not a well muscled native
of a high gravity world).
The only positive sounding descriptions that could be attributed to a
6'2", 154 pound woman are 'elfin' or 'willowy'. >> Stay informed about: Random question: Honor Harrington's height, weight, and ey.. |

OK, here's the obvious texev (easy for anyone with the RTFs from the
CDs or the copies of their files on the net, just search for "kilos"
and "centim").
[OBS]
"Permission to come aboard?" Her voice was a cool, clear soprano,
surprisingly light in a woman her size, for she easily topped McKeon's
own hundred and eighty centimeters.
[tHotQ]
Ramirez was six centimeters shorter than Honor, but San Martin, the
single habitable planet of Trevor's Star, was one of the
heaviest-gravity worlds man had settled.
[SVW]
At that moment, Admiral Konstanzakis walked -- jogged, really --
through the hatch with Admiral Miazawa. Konstanzakis was barely shorter
than Honor, and she was also much heavier-boned and stockier. She
probably out-massed Honor by at least fifty percent, whereas Miazawa
was barely a hundred and sixty centimeters tall and couldn't have
weighed much more than fifty kilos. They looked like a mastiff and a
Pekingese [...]
[FoD]
Paul was a chunky, powerful man, despite his relative shortness, but
Ramirez's shoulders were twice as broad as his, and the colonel's upper
arms were thicker than most men's thighs. At a hundred and eighty-three
centimeters, he massed over a hundred and fifty kilos, and if there
were three excess grams of fat anywhere about his person, twenty
T-years of Marine phys-ed had been unable to find them.
So Honor is 189 cm (6' 2") and a mass of 152 kg seems perfectly
reasonable.
However, even if prolong means Carson Clinkscales is still growing,
there are some fluctuations in the text. Perhaps these can be adjusted
in the "Great Resizing" ?
[HaE]
Of course, at just over a hundred and ninety centimeters she was taller
than any of them, and her birth world's gravity well, almost fifteen
percent deeper than Grayson's, had given her impressive strength and
reflexes.
[IEH]
The color showed very clearly, for Ensign Carson Clinkscales, her flag
lieutenant, was cursed with the fair, freckled complexion that went
with his dark red hair and green eyes. He was enormously tall for a
Grayson -- at a hundred and ninety centimeters, he was taller than
Honor herself, which was a claim very few Graysons could make -- but he
was also only twenty-one T-years old.
[EoH]
Clinkscales' fair redhead's complexion had not reacted well to Hell's
climate. At least the dense canopy at Site One, coupled with copious
use of sun blocker from the shuttles' emergency stores, had protected
him from direct sunlight and he hadn't burned—yet—but he tended to stay
an alarming, heat-induced beet-red which looked fairly awesome on
someone his size. At a hundred and ninety centimeters, he was a good
two centimeters taller than Honor, which made him a veritable giant for
a Grayson.
And frantically though Alistair McKeon, Andrew LaFollet, and Horace
Harkness had searched, they had not turned up a single Peep skinsuit
designed for a one-armed woman a hundred and eighty-eight centimeters
tall.

Well, Ramirez is over 150 Kilos (we don't know how much more, as a
Superdreadnought could also correctly be described as being in that
weight range), but he's also much broader of shoulder than Honor. Of
course, it's been pointed out that Honor is denser than she appears, due
to her genetic enhancement, and the San Martinos might not have that
trick in their genetic magic hats, so she could still make up some of
the difference. Do any of the books actually say how much SHE weighs?
I know people comment on her appetite and physical fitness level enough
that you'd think it'd come up.

Healthy body weight for a woman of Honor's height is about 70 kg. Even
if she is a little bit denser than normal because of her genetic
modifications, it isn't going to be more than 10%, so she's up to 77 kg.
Any more than that and she isn't going to be able to swim. (Strap on an
extra 20 pounds, and go jump in a pool sometime. You'll sink like a
stone.)
If she weighed 150 kg, people's first impression of her would be "Oh my
god, she's *huge*!" "Slender" or "slim" would never be anyone's choice
of adjective to describe her.

Of course, the key to Honor's many impressive skills and talents could
just be that she's got a 70 kilo slug of Plotonium in her abdomen.

Well, FWIW my family is a bit on the stocky side (even when we aren't
overweight...which I currently am). My current weight is 116kg (told
you...overweight. ), and I'm 185cm tall. When I was in 'fighting
trim', playing sports year round (soccer, tennis, then softball) I was
about 85kg.
In neither case was I even vaguely 'thin'; it was a great
dissappointment to my football coach (one year; I hated it) that I
didn't care for football, since I would have required little
conditioning to be a linebacker.
Offhand, I would say 90kg would be the absolute roof for Honor, and
that would probably be pushing it. Among other things, that's
probably pushing the density at which she'd have trouble staying
afloat, particularly on lighter-gravity worlds (like Manticore, where--
if I recall correctly--she swam regularly in Jason Bay during her
years at Saganami as a student).

Gravity of the planet is pretty much irrelevant as far as swimming is
concerned. If you're gonna float in a 1g field, you'll float in a 20g
field, and vice-versa.
(And if you are going to sink, a lighter gravity field will mean that
you'll sink more slowly.)

Actually, buoyancy isn't strictly required for being able to swim. You
just aren't able to _stop_ swimming until back at the shore.
We do already have some people (naturally occurring condition) who need
to keep moving to stay up in fresh water. Not counting a bunch of other
species around...
That's to say that you can go just a bit above the density of whatever
you're swimming in (How much salt and the like in Jason Bay anyway?
Fresh water or closer to the Dead Sea?) but not much. >> Stay informed about: Random question: Honor Harrington's height, weight, and ey.. |

Even for someone with almost solid bones and dense muscle who is over six
feet, 300 pounds is way heavy unless you have a super heavy frame and
tremendous muscle mass like some of the giant wrestlers. This is more like
Thandi than HH and Thandi might not go quite that high. Yeah I know fat
people do it all the time but HH isn't fat. She's fit and so is Thandi.

In which case she most likely ought to go a smidge higher because of dense
bones of course she most likely isn't going to carry the "normal" 15% to 20%
body fat so maybe I'm off. I'd guess 10% because less is not better with her
kind of metablism. Some one like HH could fall on their face in a hurry if
they missed a few meals.

Blubber is heavy. It is considered normal for women to haul 15 to 20 per
cent body fat though not in the glamore mags.
You might check out some women basketball and volleyball players about that
size and add 10 pounds if they are lean enough. >> Stay informed about: Random question: Honor Harrington's height, weight, and ey.. |

perfectly reasonable assuming she has a 18" neck and is generally
built like a weightlifter. >> Stay informed about: Random question: Honor Harrington's height, weight, and ey.. |

Would seem to be the right size. I looked at a ball team or six. None of the
girls have the right look. I don't wish to be disrespectful but they aren't
hot. With some work they might be passible. Some of the Lady Vols are
attractive. I'm not sure that most guys would get all protective over
somebody they have to look up to. There tends to be a "If you are bigger
than me you can take care of yourself attitude." This doesn't go with the
story line.
I'm not sure where to find a picture of the girls you listed on line. I
tried the first girl and got hits that had nothing to do with her nor were
the bad links something I understand because it wasn't other people with the
same name. Not spam but no obvious connection.
I may be wrong but maybe the idea of a hot female giant that everyone wishes
to protect and men lust after may work better if we don't see her.

The only pictures I could find for any of them were in their basketball
uniforms, which aren't exactly flattering.
