I teach a seventh grade class of low level readers. They test between
third and fifth grade level. Does anyone have any good suggestions
for books to read aloud to them? I would especially like some ideas
to interest the boys in my class. I have read them bits of Sharon
Draper and Cirque du Freak, and they are hits with the class.

How about Anthony Horowitz's first Alex Rider book, _Stormbreaker_? That
should have them on the edge of their seats.

Last year I read "Holes" to a group of jaded eighth graders, and they
got into it. And this will have the added effect of being able to show
the movie later for compare/contrast purposes. "The Cay" might also be
one to look into.

Maybe Terry Pratchett's non-Discworld series with Johnny Maxwell, 12 years
old. Only You Can Save Mankind, etc.
