I'm not sure if this is because I was reading the revised book of The
Gunslinger or if this was in the original - which I now can't find *sob*

*****spoiler space******

*****here it comes******

I noticed when the Man in Black and Roland are having their palaver, the
man in black says to Roland "You never learn. You never will learn. No
matter how many times you relive it, you will STILL never learn."

Now having finished the whole series, I am wondering if the ending was
in Stephen King's mind from the very beginning, way back when he was 19
and started it, or if this wasn't in the original and came after the
re-write to link it more fully to the series ending with him ending at
the beginning, but holding the Horn.

That was added to the revised version, not present in the original.

Thank you so much Bev, I just KNEW it was too pat to be purely by chance
- but now I know it was just for the revised edition, it's made me easier.
