Hi All,
Since Anne stopped writing I've gotten into fantasy & time-travel books
more. I've gone thru all the Diana Gabaldon books (which start with
Outlander). They are great & defy any real classification. Then read most
of the Marion Zimmer Bradley Avalon & the like books. I'm now reading some
of her "Darkover" series which are real other-worldly fantasy. Then a few
days ago I found a book by Joan D.Vince (who is new to me) called "The Snow
Queen." It really pulled me in right from the beginning.
Just thought I'd share some stuff that I think is good while we also wait to
see what Anne's up to. BTW, have any of you read her son Christopher's
books? Are they worth looking for?
Thanks & happy holidays,
Bev in sunny Santa Cruz, CA

One of the absolute *best* fantasy time travel series I've ever read is
the Pliocene Exile Saga by Julian May. The first books are The Many
Colored Land, The Golden Torc, The Non-born King, and onward from
there. Just amazing stuff! Can't recommend them enough.

Dragon,
Thanks for the recommendations. I'll look for them in the library.
Happy holidays!

If you'll forgive a shameless plug, my trilogy Watchers, (The Coming of
the King, The Battle for the Throne and Culloden!) retells the 1745
Jacobite rebellion with Bonnie Prince Charlie, and the whole Scottish
highland army, as vampires. Fantasy fans with a penchant for vamps all
seem to love it, as do vamp fans with a penchant for historical
backgrounds.

I'd be interested to hear how members of the Anne Rice fan community
took to it?

I will absolutely recommend Robin Hobb's
trilogies 'The Farseer Trilogy' and 'The Liveship
Traders'. The next, 'The Tawny Man' trilogy I
have just bought, not read yet.
And of course 'The EmpireTrilogy', Raymond Feist
and Janny Wurst.
George R.R Martin's series 'A Song of Ice and Fire'
is also among my favorites.
