In accordance with ancient custom, a candle burns tonight in the window
[1] of the tar paper shack, in memory of Guido Fawkes. Would that he
were living at this hour; England hath need of him. &c.
[1] Actually, it's not a window, it's a hole in the tar paper caused by
either a falling branch or an infuriated wild boar. But we call it a
window. >> Stay informed about: Remember - |

In his honour tomorrow we shall ignite the fuzes of stacks of ordnance
and say "oooooh" as they go *bang* whooooooosh *BANG*.
Me and The Innocuous Dave on Mortars, I think.
Fancy comin' out for a bit of moil, toil an' hurly-burly, 'Drake?

Ah. Erm. I think that may have been an errant rocket-stick from last
week's little warm-up exercise. Sorry about that: the smaller blonde
item on the team is trying to get her fire more accurate. This time she
only hit me with *one* smack on the helmet; last time out it was two
near misses, and I began to feel bracketed, so it was a relief to get
the impact over with. Maybe I shouldn't've stood in line with your des.

Are you sure it wasn't perhaps a more-than-usually-errant
surface-to-surface earwig? Some of the lads got a bit lost on the last
exercise, and since we haven't heard any singing they obviously haven't
found their way to a pub yet...

Would that be surface to surface via the surface? Or has Isambard been

Not to mention "yum".

Absolutely. Bags the delicious ones with lots of nitrates and
magnesium.

Via enthusiastic and occasionally well-controlled wing-flapping,
actually.

Isambard rarely refrains from thought.

I must confess to never having actually seen an earwig fly.

So Nikola was telling me over at the power broadcasting station this
morning. He seemed a little concerned about it actually - kept mumbling
something about a substance called 'De-Caf' under his breath.

Perhaps you should look more closely when irregular chirrings happen
just above head-height.

Yes, some people use that instead of Trouser Stiffener. Isambard cannot
see the point of this practice.

If they had, we still wouldn't have heard any *singing*. Get real,
Sergeant, you know perfectly well none of the lads can *sing*.
