| Funny how as you grow older, your view of some books take a new light. The
Stand is a great book. Always will be, but I could tell that King did not
like the Army or the Government at the time he wrote this. Being Im in the
military for a lot of years, its hard for me to relate. But, the epic plot
still brings me back to the book.

I reread it when the unabridged came out. I don't really think the book
ages too well.
I think McCammon's book "Swan Song" is basically better.
I have all of King's books, so don't think I'm not a fan. I just think

I've tried other "horror" writers but never liked them as much as King which
makes me think I'm not so much a horror reader as a King reader.

DT7 as a stand-alone novel - I read somewhere that King considers DT7 to be its own self-contained story and one does not need to have read the previous books to follow it. True? Considering the excerpt that begins right in the middle of things, I seriously doubt this claim.
