My sister is graduating from Indiana (Bloomington) this weekend with her
Masters in Library Sciences. Not too many job openings, or so she says
anyway.

You actually had too much text? *shakes head* That would never happen
to me, I've dutifully noted all the nice tricks to expand length,
because, come this weekend, I'll probably desperately need them. My
M.A. dissertation is entering the finishing stage and I sincerely
doubt I'll manage the required 60-80 pages without help.

My problem isn't exactly something that can be fixed by these, even
though I'm making notes, too. It's a history paper on the local
historical society. There just isn't a lot of history since it was
founded about twenty-four years ago. I've got some notes from an
interview, a pamphlet, and their website. I think instead of a lot of
history, my teacher's going to get what's going on now. At least it
will become history.

....and if the context makes them appropriate, use lots of section
headers. They typically need at least two spaces above and one
below, so you get an extra three lines.

I work for the government. People around here can (and do) blither on
for page after page saying ... something i'm sure. Unfortunately
no-one's ever found out because even a bureaucrat can only read 20 or
so pages without falling asleep.

All these tips on how to lengthen an essay. Oh if only my college did it
by number of pages rather than by number of words.....

My Master's thesis in the early 1970s didn't have any specific size
requirement, but it wound up being perhaps 150 pages or so (I have
*no* idea where my copy is) -- but a good part of that was program
listings. (The title was "A Sequential Circuit Simulator" -- and I
had the advantage that nobody on my committee was a programmer.)
