My copy of "Tales of Known Space" (Ballantine, NY, $1.75, 1975 edn) has
a standing Kzin in the inside front cover and a standing Kzin skeleton
on the inside back cover.

The foot, lower leg, and lower arm bones extend past their inboard
joints, and the outboard end of the inboard bone bifurcates for the
joint in each case. There are not two side-by-side limb bones.

There is no spine.

The body skeleton consists of diagonal bones along the surface,
reticulating with four-sided spaces between. Not unlike, I believe, how
a Wimpey was built. The line joining the tops of the arms must remain
parallel to that joining the top of the legs.

The skull mounts at the top of an offset-rearwards pyramid of bones,
bases on bones at top-of-arm level.

These Kzinti are rather unlike those on Baen Books MKW covers.

That's the book from which I posted the image.

That would make it pretty difficult to dislocate one of those
joints. I can't think of any reason it couldn't develop, but equally I
can't think of any comparable joint structures in known zoology.

I'm sure this is contradicted in some fight scenes in the canon.

I don't understand this.

That wouldn't make for a very flexible, agile organism. The only
ability to change attitude would be in the flex in the joints. Since the
elbow/ knee joints don't have much flex as you've just described, you're
restricted to the hip/ shoulder joints. That's a lot of degrees of
freedom gone.

Wimpey : Wellington bomber, fl. 1942-45 IIRC. Geodetic construction.

Buckminster-ish? I envisage what you're talking about. Never
heard a Wellington called a Wimpey though. Thought that was Popeye's
burger-gulping friend.

Envisaging the cross-hatch construction, I'm remembering a model
I built years ago for generating ellipsoids. Knowing your
predilections, did you ever encounter Cundy and Rollett (where I got
the design for the variable ellipsoid)?
Good grief, it's been re-issued recently :

I agree with the top line of the review on Amazon : "Should be
in every school library!"

No, but I do recall, after having studied no such geometry for some
while, struggling with a calculation on an ellipsoid. A little later,
seeking other information, I picked up a little book by W H McCrea, and
it opened at the page giving the result I'd wanted for the first
problem; and ISTR telling W H McCrea of that at dinner shortly after.
