National treasure looks good, thanks for posting. I'm sort of
interested to see what kind of onscreen chemistry Cage and Bean have.
Thanks for the info.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

To be honest, I am just excited about seeing Bean, he really adds a
good deal to all of his movies... It should be a decent chemistry<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Yeah, after Adaptation and Matchstick Men, I was eager to see what Cage's
next role would be. When I saw he'd be opposite one Sean Bean, well, I was
rather pleased. =P<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I'm going to have to agree...i think they'd make an amazing duo.
Wonder why they haven't worked on screen together before.

I'm actually getting pretty pumped about this.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

I also believe that the new season of Masterpiece Theatre on PBS will be
kicking off with the 2003 two-part TV miniseries, Henry VIII, with none
other than Sean Bean. Definitely looking forward to that!

Is Bean playing Henry?

Post subject: Troy [was 'New Sean Bean Movie...?] [Login to view extended thread Info.]
Archived from groups: per prev. post (more info?)

Speaking of Bean, did anyone else here sit through the ham-fisted exercise
that was Troy in the hopes that Sean's presense might redeem it?

I thought it did, in a sense, due to the fact that after the collective
bunch of lunatics had had their way, he (as Odysseus) was the last man
standing, ruminating on the whole bloody, senseless affair in a rather
displeased manner. =)

Of course it didn't redeem the fact that I spent about 90% of the movie
accutely aware of how intensely bad the writing (and therefore directing)
were. Also, the music was at times hopelessly inappropriate, others just
offensively bombastic.

I have a little more hope for Alexander. It's got Hopkins, and even better,
Val Kilmer. Though I understand Val's character is not exactly dignified. He
'stopped working out' and gained about 50 pounds for "for the plump role of
Philip". So perhaps that's even worse. Who knows what kind of role Hopkins
has.

Sorry, couldn't bring myself to do it. Too many oiled pecs, it
would have taken me right back to the old Steve Reeves movies!

Sounds in character, anyway. Too bad they didn't do Odysseus'
story, I always liked that better than the Iliad.

I'll bet he plays Plato (?), who was Alexander's tutor in his
youth. I think.

That would have been Aristotle, not Plato.

Aristotle, who was a pupil of Plato, was Alexander's tutor.
