Years ago I read an English detective novel. The two heroes were a Police
detective (I think) and a female who I believe was an amateur. I would like
to read the book again but can't remember the name of the book or the
writer. The plot involved a body being thrown into a river and a wait for
the river to 'give up' the body. I seem to remember that the Policeman had
a liking for 'pickle' and the amateur found this most distasteful due to the
effect that this would have on his palate. Can anyone help me with who the
novelist or the book might be?
