I know it's a little late this year .............

The door to the OEI&U ( is that right - can't remember ) is pushed
open as Beldin appears to be trying to pull a tree stump into the
tavern. The "stump" turns out to be a 50 foot Norwegian Pine which
magically sets itself upright and wanders over to the corner where
it's roots seem to bond with the wooden floorboards before giving
itself a quick shake to get all it's branches in line.

Beldin glances at the tree, mutters "show off" as he heads to the bar.

Walking slowly behind the bar, Beldin stops before a
small Walnut cabinet with leaded glass doors and Brass
fittings. Opening the cabinet, Beldin removes a small
Copper Squirrel from the hook inside. Closing the doors,
he then removes the Brass Acorn from it's small alcove
above them.

And now for the first decorations, the Copper Squirrel,
and Brass Acorn are joined by an origami stork made of
polished copper and the sterling silver tinsel which CS
placed on the 1999 and 2000 trees. There also appears a
copy of The Pogues' "A Fairytale of New York" in memory
of Simon.

For myself, I place a belt of horse brasses on the tree, in memory of
my Aunt who passed away in November.

I'm gonna be off line untill early January, so I'll just say Seasons
Greetings to all in abm-l

Station B.E.L.D.I.N. is now off the air untill 2008

I'll hang a bridge, then, elegantly designed. In memory of my
dad, a structural engineer. He loved the engineering and deisgn
of bridges, though his work was often much more pragmatic.

I shall offer this little golden dog figurine to hang on the tree. In
memory of all the little lost dogs who wander out and never find their
homes again, and all the homes that miss them.

(The dog I found I still haven't matched to an owner. I have hopes for the
lady I just emailed photos to. Fingers crossed.

I spent a half hour or so in the animal shelter this afternoon, flipping
through page after page after page of descriptions of lost dogs -- just
from the last month and half! Heartbreaking.

The people lined up to adopt dogs on the weekend before Xmas were more
cheering.)

'Wyrm approaches the tree with a small gold picture frame. Inside the
frame is a photo of two attractive matrons who are obviously related.

"I lost my mother to cancer 27 years ago and last month her last
surviving sibling, her older sister, passed on. I now only have one
family member of my parents' generation left alive -- Dad's sister. And
her health is slowly failing, along with her eyesight from macular
degeneration. It's hard to believe that my folks would have been 90 this
past year."

Aphrael walks in and adds to the pine four little angels made of terra

to suspend them.

Silently, moving a finger and pointing at each in turn, she mouths:
Granny, Mom, his Granny Julie, his Mom. Good. Forgot no one.

Then, she turns around and walks slowly, lost in her thoughts, to the
ABML bar. "One hot chocolate, please. I need it."

Merry whatever-you-celebrate to you all from a cold and slightly sunny
Switzerland !

Sasha waves her hand and chocolate ornaments appear on the tree. On close
examination, they appear to be mobile pictures made entirely of fudge. "One
is my Brother in Law Roy who passed away a couple of weeks ago. The others
are of my children who are eagerly awaiting a certain visit tonight." With
another wave of her hand, a table appears near the tree holding plates of
fudge.

Season's Greetings to all.

The Bookwurm whistles for her staff, who enthusiastically wrap the
tree with a garland of tiny books. Then she supervises their
installation of dozens of tiny snowballs, twinkling with starlight.

Satisfied, she sends the apes to their promised obelisk break.

Happy Holidays and Fond Remembrances All!

Lovely tree as usual, Beldin. My ornament this year is a air of US
Navy insignia entwined in a heart in memory of my parents, who met
during WWII, in Charleston, on a blind date, on Christmas Eve.

And here's another to go into the memory cabinet for the tree - a
miniature Comfy Sofa in Simon's memory.

Purple Kat wanders over to the tree..

She sits in thought for a few moments, and with a few waves of her
tail,,,,

Small purple stars and moons appear among the garland and the
snowballs.

"hhhmmm,,,, not enough... "

"AA-HA!!" With another wave of her tail several strings of purple and
white twinkling lights appear nestled among the branches of the tree.

She comes back to the bar and several purple coins appear in the box.
"Hot Toddies for anyone who wants them,"
