ShadowCat and Mystech and Magic and Mutations

Why not? Because creating a relative out of the blue and having her killed
off just so that Kitty could get the control of a corporation is an
incredible contrived storytelling device that smacks of poor writing. But
for the same of it I'd like to know how being head of a corporation leads to
cosmic potentiality through the secret government idea. Kingpin never went
cosmic, for example.

Ok I would not kill the relative right away, I would have him trying to
find Kitty, cause he needs to talk to him, I would have that character
help Kitty out, this would all be in miniseries, then second miniseries
would feature Kitty helping out her relative, then third miniseries,
would have Kitty finding out her relative is sick an goes an vists him
on his deathbed, then 3rd series ends with Kitty wondering what to do
next! The 4th miniseries would have Kitty summoned by a lawyer who tells
Kitty she inherited the MystechCorporation, then the regular series
starts out with her learning the corporate world, while she is running
the company she starts learning the secrets of Mutation an also starts
learning the secrets of Magic, eventually a secret government
organization contacts Kitty to run it group an eventually she will be
given various cosmic power by various beings and become a major cosmic
player!

You can't inherit a corporation. Well, I guess if you managed to take
the corporate entity, give it life, give it a will, and so forth, but

Actually it is possible in Marvel to inherit a company! So I would do
all that stuff in my storyline!

Yes, it _is_ possible, even in real life, to inherit a company. It is

I suppose, but that's still a different matter. A corporation, strictly

A corporation is a legal entity, but it belongs to its shareholders, not
to itself.

(Well, subject to some exceptions. It IS possible to create corporate
entities which belong to nobody - in the UK, that would generally be
entities created by Royal Charter, such as the BBC. But if we're
talking about your standard corporation, the shareholder company, then
it's owned by its shareholders.)
