The Prince was already under a spell, if I remember correctly, Odysseus
was merely indulging his curiosity regarding the Siren Song...something
which under other circumstances could have been lethal. Part of the
spell on the Prince made him sit down calmly and be tied during his
"fit" until it was passed. The horrible thing was that it was the only
time he was in his right mind.
