DC Comics online:
" ...After being used as a pawn by the forces of evil during DC ONE MILLION,
Hourman has given up a huge portion of the absolute power over time and
space that was manipulated by the evil Solaris. But what he's got left --
flight, super-strength, and the power to travel through time, see the
future and past of any being and manipulate people's personal timeline
(controlling their age, etc.) during his daily "Hour of Power" -- is
plenty. That's especially true with the JLA helping him learn what it
means to be a super-hero. But to learn the most valuable lesson -- what
it means to be simply human -- the JLA introduces him to his new best
friend: "Snapper" Carr, the former JLA "mascot" turned modern-day
beatnik. The super-cool Snapper plans to show Hourman ("Tyler" to his
friends) the ins and outs of everyday life in Happy Harbor..."

At least this part is right. I can just imagine the look on Juggernaut or
other
characters faces seeing this goofy looking kid flying down at them saying
"Ooo Wah Tah Goo Siam".

>Absolutely. And just wait until next issue and a phone conversation that I

Anyone up to taking bets?
Snapper talking to Rick Jones - 1:1
Snapper talking to anyone else - 50:1
Please, let me be wrong about this. The last thing I want is to be able to
predict Peter's moves, but every time I can recall Peter writing Snapper
(The
Blasters, DC vs Marvel), he links the two of them, even mentioning Snapper
playing guitar in a rock band as if he was Rick's DC clone. Snapper was a
Beatnik hipster during the Beatnik era -- he'd more likely be a
drummer/bongo
player than a guitarist.
Well, hope I wind up with egg on my face next month. I'd much prefer to
howl.

>>Never read anything about Snapper Carr outside of DC vs Marvel. Rick
seems
to me more interesting a character. Snapper just goes around snapping as is
a beatnik or something right? Whereas Rick is responsible for bringing
together
the Avengers, solving the KreeSkull War, creating the Hulk, and saving Cap's
life once or twice. Pretty good for a normal guy I'd say
>>
>Bouncing Beatnik: 2:13, etc. Associated with Honor Guard on first Shirak
>the Devourer case. Hepcat acrobat. [Homage to Steve Ditko characters.]
In addition to the Ditko homage, I believe this is a tip of the hat to
Snapper
Carr, the JLA mascot of the 60's. Notice the Beatnik's hands....

I'd forgotten all about Snapper Carr, perhaps the only Beatnik of the comix<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
