Hahaha, I tend to agree. On the other hand, it's attractive to keep his work
alive. Didn't work for Frank Herbert though... Does anyone know whether is
is satisfactory to take a subscription to Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine?

I'm not really that worked up about it...
Asimov looked at unintended consequences and tried to resolve them, not
say "how extreme can we go". I could see a book written w/ Daniel &
Giskard discussing the possiblility of having to destroy a race to save
humankind and the entire book being about how to resolve the issue. But
to have it actually happen? No. Giskard would say "We must" and Daniel
would say "I know we must but I an uneasy..." (And I'd love to have seen
how he set up and resolved such a problem). Note that Gaia was already
multi-species. Would it then be so foreign a thought to add another?

Well of course not. Not yet. There -are- dates in many of the books.

Of course, I'm wrong here, they couldn't have this conversation. I'm
talking about a time after Daniel/Giskard turnover to Fallon.

"He" here refers to Dr. Asimov which probably most of you figured out.

The story is called "Blind Alley", and can be found in the story collection
_The Early Asimov_.

As others have noted, Asimov did write stories that included alien races. The
reason the Foundation stories only had humans was so that Asimov could avoid
editorial interference from his editor, John Campbell, who had, um, strong
views on the subject of nonhuman races.

There were the lizard-like Sirian (?) occupiers of Earth in "Black Friar of
the Flame". For a variety of reasons, not one of Asimov's favourite short
stories...

the reason there are no aliens in foundation is that the editor, campbell,
wanted any aliens to be inferior to humans in at least one way ,and asimov
knew this reflected the editors own racist views about whites and blacks, so
asimov got back at him by making the whole galaxy human
