Has anyone heard of this series of books? Any good?
The author is Janet Evanovich. Thanks.

Good? Janet's characters are soooooo disfunctional they can only be
loved. She has a few series going right now. The Stephanie Plum
series you mentioned (try them - you'll love them) and another series
she co-authors with Charlotte Hughes -- usually with "... FULL ..." in
the title. More disfuctional -- more fun.

I have heard that her books are average. Very creative but can not be
compared to Linda Howard, Nora Roberts or Sandra Brown.

And not a one of them can compare to Laura Lippman or Jan Burke, or Sara
Paretsky
or Marcia Muller or SJ Rozan.....

These are totally different books and in no way should they be compared
to Lippman,Burke,Paretsky,Muller, S J Rozan or half a dozen other
authors that I could mention. I enjoy reading the Stephanie Plum books
but they are the type of books that will give you a laugh and are quite
amusing and if that is what you are looking for then go ahead and read
them. You are better off starting with the first one in the series. If
you want something that has a bit more depth then don't read them. For
some readers they are an acquired taste, but for a majority of people
that I know that read them they find them a nice distraction from
reading "heavier" novels.

Another great lighter writer to try would be Sparkle Hayter. She is
hysterical.

I love her stuff, very easy read, always good for a laugh, a good
laught-out-loud-tears-rolling-down-your-cheek kind of laugh sometimes. They
are a quick easy read, put a book away in an afternoon. I think her
grandmother reminds me of mine....

for something a little more serious, look to sue grafton's alphabet series.
For more serious again, my favorites are patricia cornwell and kathy reichs.
