I'm currently in the middle of this book, and unless I'm misremebering
Star Trek VI, there's a pretty huge error in it. I don't have access
to it right now, so I'm hoping somebody else can clear it up.

Ambassador Burgess and Tuvok both make reference, in talking about how
Sulu is willing to break the rules and how his actions during the
Khitomer Accords would have landed him in the brig if they hadn't
turned out right, to Sulu breaking regulations to try and rescue his
former captain from the Klingon prison world of Rura Penthe.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Excelsior wasn't involved in that,
was it? It wasn't invovled until the very end. And I recall that the
Enterprise did this without contacting anybody, so it's not like they
could say "the Excelsior was not involved on-screen, but they were
helping."

Am I wrong?

In the Voyager episode "Flashback" they establish that Sulu was attempting
to rescue Kirk and McCoy from Rura Penthe when he sparred with Kang in a
nebula. It's explained that Sulu ultimately didn't need to rescue Kirk, but
did arrive in time to provide back-up in the shootout with Chang.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Ah yes. I remembered that episode after I posted this, but I couldn't
remember the details.

Thanks for filling them in.
