Susan update 7/9/07

Hi all,
Thanks for the prayers. They are working.
Mom got her trache today. She's much more alert
and moving much more...including moving right arm and
leg. We'll see if the trache helps (it was done late
in the afternoon so she was sleeping most of the time
afterward). She still has the lung infection though.

Dad ostensibly had a "perfect, classic" surgery and
got three major bypasses plus a couple small ones and
a brand new ascending aorta. Everything looked great
until late Friday night when his blood pressure
started dropping. All of a sudden he
coded...fortunately his heart only stopped for like 30
seconds. Just long enough for me to totally freak
when I heard "Code Blue!" They got him stabilized
but we had a scary weekend. He's off the ventilator
now (he kept trying to pull it off) but he's having a
few other problems and may need some dialysis because
evidently when your heart stops it makes your kidneys
stop and they sometimes need help to start working
again. They tell this is all common after the surgery
he had. Too bad they didn't tell this until AFTER it
happened!

Anyway, please keep the prayers coming! We need
them.
