Hi all,
I have kind of a mixed report tonight. Dad is not
doing real well although he's better tonight than last
night. He was having major breathing problems and
they were afraid they might have to put him back on
the ventilator. He pitched a fit and said he'd rather
die. Took me a while to convince him to let them do
whatever was necessary to keep alive, but he's
convinced now. Thank God they didn't have to used the
vent -- they used a Bipap mask (looks like a
deep-sea diver thing and pushes oxygen into the
lungs...not comfy either but preferable to a tube down
your throat). Today the numbers are better and
they're going to do another hide-a-scan tomorrow to
check out the gall bladder which is probably at the
root of the problem (that infection causing gas
pressing on the diaphragm pressing on the lungs). Or
so they say. Anyway, please pray he doesn't have to
go back on the ventilator because he's adamantly
opposed to it.
The good news is that mom is doing great at
rehab. She went four hours on CPAP today (breathing
on her own) and is communicating more and doing her
foot exercises independently (moving the foot herself
without me moving it for her). She's moving her hand
more too. I told my dad that if she could fight
through what she's been through, he could fight
through his situation, too.
The prayers ARE working. Thanks!
Susan
