IIRC, it's something like this... In the future, before his eventual death,
Wencit somehow manages to send his soul and knowledge and memory
back in time to his younger self. In Sword Brother, Tremala only gets
her burst of insight after looking at Wencit's sword, so perhaps Wencit's
older self is embedded in the sword, not in Wencit himself. >> Stay informed about: Sword Brother - Wencit |

Well, that tracks with all that conversation Wencit had with the
soldiers about magic and time travel. >> Stay informed about: Sword Brother - Wencit |

It also tracks with Bahzell's first encounter with Wencit where just after
Bahzell tries to skewer Wencit with his greatsword, and is stopped by
Wencit's magic, Wencit says:
"... I've been looking forward to this moment for a very long time..."
It also explains why Wencit didn't have to actually track the baddies
who who holding Zarantha, but he was taking a direct path, because
he KNEW where he would be intercepting them from his older self's
memories.
It pretty much explains why Wencit seems to have extraordinary
precognitive knowledge of so many things, from where to intercept
Bahzell in a raging snow storm, to knowing that he'd need a really
complex glamor spell to confuse the Carnadosian wizards from
properly tracking him with magic in "Sword Brother". >> Stay informed about: Sword Brother - Wencit |

So was he being less than honest when he says he was expecting
something else to show up in the summoning he does at the beginning of
"Sword Brother"?
My problem is that "Sword Brother" is the sort of Deus Ex Machina plot
you'd expect in fan fiction. Much as I like modern people being
plopped into the past or fantasy worlds, this was a bit extreme. >> Stay informed about: Sword Brother - Wencit |

Maybe not. I'm thinking that "current" Wencit doesn't have all the momories
of "future" Wencit, only that he can access them when he wants to. So,
perhaps
he knew that he was going to summon a powerful ally, but hadn't bothered to
discover the nature of that ally. And perhaps by saying that he was
"expecting"
something else, it was an indication that Wencit was "expecting" something
more familiar.

I took it as sort of a homage to the troops in Iraq. >> Stay informed about: Sword Brother - Wencit |
