Shakespeare, William. THE TEMPLE SHAKESPEARE. 37 vols. London, Dent
at Aldine House, (1894-1899). Generally Third, Fourth and Fifth
Editions (printings); the First was in 1894. Preface and Glossary in
each volume by Israel Gollancz. Uniformly bound. 24mo (5 1/4 x 4 1/4
in.) in red/maroon leather with a gilt crest on each cover, gilt title
on the spines, top edges gilt, silk place-markers, and a black and
yellow crest inside each cover. Each volume has a tissue-protected
frontis and an illuminated (in red and black) title page. About
140--170 pp. per volume. 37 vols. of 40. Missing are Hamlet, Sonnets,
and Loves Labours Lost. Minor wear. Inside each cover is a gift
bookplate from a private library to a public library, 1940, and a small
ink number. There are no other markings. A bright, clean and sound
set. Very good plus. $350.00 U.S.
