Hi,
I am looking for a chronological listing of all the Trek books.
I have about 450 all together and am trying to get them into
the correct order on my bookshelves ( i know a bit anal but there you go )
looking through the lists on the books themselves the earlier ones
show them using a different numbering order and the new ones don't
seem to have a number at all.
Can someone help.
Cheers

Most books have a number on the cover. Use those numbers.
(My books do anyway)

Unfortunately, the publisher recently stopped putting numbers on books, as
of a couple years ago. I think the idea was that the high numbers was
scaring away potential readers, putting them off with the feeling that
they'd "missed to much to catch up." I don't know if that's true or not,
but I can say that by STOPPING the numbering, and by making every book that
comes out in a series cross over with the other series, they're about to
lose this reader, and I've been reading (and buying) every Trek book since
the '70s. It's just gotten to damn hard to keep up with them and to know
what's new, what's coming out, what I've got and what I don't. Add to that
the sneaky reissuing of two or three old books in a new form as a single
book without bothering to mention that they're reprints, and it makes it
really hard to justify continuing to spend money on books I'm working harder
and harder to find and enjoying less and less. To top it all off, for the
past several years, it seems like every book has to involve some huge threat
to the entire galaxy, whereas in years and decades past, there was a mix of
galaxy-shaking stories and smaller, more personal stories.

Anyway, that's my rant. As far as finding a list of all the books, give
this a shot:

have you checked out <a style='text-decoration: underline;' href="http://www.psiphi.org?" target="_blank">www.psiphi.org?</a>

Also I do believe that the finale of the gateways novels has a sort of
chronological book order in it.

I feel your pain. A couple months back I bought a 'new' book, only to
find it was a reprint combining three titles I had read. B&N was kind
enough to accept my return. I'm with you on the numbering. Take the
crossovers (reading 'Double Helix' now) and keep them seperate, but keep
numbering the bulk of the series. A few non-numbered weren't bothering
me, but dropping altogether wasn't a good move.
I use psiphi.org to keep on top of the books by pub date. Not going to
quit reading over this 'cause TV generally sux, and reading this series
has put me to sleep that past two+ decades.
