From the (very brief) article: 'The program will be the first in the
Western United States to offer "specific rare book and manuscript
education and training," and UCLA officials say the venture will
increase the number of qualified professionals available to the field.'
I wonder if these classes will only be available to students in the
university's Information Science programs, or if they'll be open to
enrollment/auditing by interested outside parties (i.e. book collectors,
dealers, etc.). I do know that the well-known Rare Book School at the
University of Virginia offers a variety of classes, some for
professional librarians & conservators, and some for those with an
avocational interest in rare books.
