This is our 244th edition, with just one book (since I've opted out of
Messiah Complex I didn't pick up X-Factor like I once would have).
I'm running pretty late this week, so it's going to be a short one.
This week we have...

New Warriors #6 - "Defiant, Part Six" (Writer: Kevin Grevioux,
Penciler: Paco Medina, Inker: Juan Vlasco,
Colorist:
Marte Gracia)
While the rest of the New Warriors try to convince Night Thrasher not
to disband the team, those investigating the identity of their funder
come across some surprising information.
It's one of those issues where you kind of know what's going to happen
because, unless the book is cancelled, the team's obviously not going
to disband. Although there's some possibility for large scale
changes,
it would seem to be a little unexpected to get rid of major elements
before they've even be developed at all.
Still, in all of that, there are some nice moments, and we do finally
get something I've been asking for for a while - some more information
on the team, like who's in it and who they used to be. Some of the
choices seem a little odd, as the characters don't strike me as much
like the ones we knew, but we haven't really seen much of them either.
Two minor details stand out, one for the good, one for the bad. The
bad
is that Sofia refers to "House of M" being good to Angel, when
obviously
she meant M-Day. House of M was the miniseries that started it, but
it
refers to an alternate universe almost nobody remembers, and so it's
an
inappropriate reference (unless Sofia somehow gained the ability to
break
the fourth wall). On the other side, there's a scene with an image
inducer where the hologram is significantly taller than the person in
side, and the art skillfully conveys this by having the image stare
straight ahead while talking to people, when it should be looking
down.
Nice work on that one.
Overall, a fairly pleasant issue, and I'll be sticking with the book a
while to see how things work out.

Well, that's it for this week folks. Next week, according to the
shipping list, there's just one book. That's Ultimate X-Men #89.
See you next time...
