This is our 234th edition, with three books. However, since I'm
running
a little later than I'd like, the reviews are going to be shorter
than
usual.
This week we have...

Loners #5 (of 6) - "Chinks in the Armor" (Writer: C.B. Cebulski,
Artist: Karl Moline, Ink Assists: Mark Pennington,
Colors: Beth Sotelo)
The group is helped to defend themself from Nekra's attack by a
mysterious new arrival, but nobody's sure they can trust her. Also,
Phil finds himself slipping further into madness.
It's an okay issue, but I'm finding myself less interested in the
series as a whole with every installment. The plot seems to drag
on, perhaps due in part to the number of subplots, and I don't
particularly find Phil's descent interesting or particularly plausible
from anything I've seen before (which is, admittedly, limited to his
previous appearances in Runaways).

Ultimate X-Men #85 - "Sentinels, Part 3 of 5" (Writer: Robert
Kirkman,
Pencils: Yanick Paquette, Inks: Serge Lapointe
with,
Karl Story, Colors: Stephane Peru)
The X-Men fight Sentinels again.
With that plot summary, what else is there to say. The fight is cool
at times, but in the end it's just a fight, and not a particularly
memorable one. There are other plots getting development, but except
for the Mutant Liberation Front, not much. Kirkman's still not
packing
the punch that this title needs.

X-Factor #23 - "The Isolationist, Part III: True or False" (Writer:
Peter David, Art: Pablo Raimondi, Colors: Brian Reber)
Huber convinces the X-Men of his plan to ask the US Government for
protection under the Endangered Species Act, and Layla tries to
survive her predicament.
This is my Pick of the Week, but it's only about an average issue of
the title. It continues the ongoing plots raises a couple of new
questions, and does it all in an entertaining way. I would have liked
a little bit of a more thorough explanation for Huber's motivations
(the one given fails to satisfy, seeming pretty thin), but there's
perhaps time for that in the rest of the arc.

Well, that's it for this week folks. Next week, according to the
shipping list, there's just one book, New X-Men #42.
See you next time...
