Infact I do.
"The book you're asking about was going to be called Return of the
Buccaneer. You can get some sense of what was going to be in it in the
scene in Shadow of a Dark Queen where Erik overhears Bobby and Nakor
talking on Sorcerer's Island.
Basically, the story would have acted as a bridge between the King's
Buccaneer and the Serpentwar Saga. It would have introduced Miranda,
Bobby, and featured Calis, as well as chronicaled the trip down to
Novidus.
The farther I get from that decision to not do the book (my new
publisher, Morrow/Avon wanted something that was clearly a "book 1" of
a new series), the less I regret having not done it.
It would have been a very dark story, and would have left the reader
with a lot of question marks. Miranda's history would not have been
provided, so she would have been a mystery for one extra book until
Rage. A lot of characters would have died, and mostly it would have
been a story of Calis and Bobby surviving a disaster, with very little
sense of triumph.
Anyway, that was quite a while back now, and I'm working on volume 1 of
The Darkwar Saga, Flight of the Nighthaws."
