She lived in Fort Myers, Florida.

Aka Verna Norberg Aardema Vugteveen, she died in 2000, soon before her
89th birthday.

"Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears," illustrated by Leo and Diane
Dillon, won the 1976 Caldecott Award.
