"Kurt Vonnegut's childhood home at 4401 N. Illinois St. is for sale.
Architect Willard Osler designed and built the house in the Arts and
Crafts style for the Vonnegut family in 1923.
The family's handprints, created by pressing their palms into wet
concrete, can still be seen off the back porch, according to Realtor
Lorraine Price, who represents current owners Vaughn and Melissa
Hickman. The smallest handprint is Kurt's, Price said.
Vonnegut loved this house.
"Nothing bad ever happened in that house," he once told an
interviewer.
Financial reverses brought on by the Depression forced the Vonneguts
to move to a smaller home in 1932.
The asking price is $1,095,000. Call (317) 638-8343 for more
information."

I personally think it's a shame that the City of Indianapolis does not
buy this house and turn it into a historical monument, and keep it for
a Kurt Vonnegut Museum.
