In chapters 6 and 7, Eustace is a dragon and wears the arm ring of Lord
Octesian (one of the 7 Lords who had sailed off to the east before
Caspian became king). When Aslan reverts Eustace to boy form, he takes
off the ring and offers it to King Caspian, who offers it to Lucy, who
doesn't want it. Caspian then throws it up in the air, and it snags on a
rock projection on a cliff. Why not instead take it back to Narnia to
turn it over to Octesian's relatives or put it in/on a memorial to the 7
Lords who went exploring on the Eastern Sea?

Well, because they didn't, that's why.

And, as Lewis notes, it's now stuck up there till that world
ends, unless someone were to find a Talking Seagull to bring it
down.

That doesn't really answer my question.

Or a flying horse, or a griffin?

Not a bad idea! I wondered, though, why they couldn't just SHOOT it down.
Surely there must have been at least one archer among them skilled enough
to hit it from the beach!

Their top archers were all indisposed or away. Robin Hood was busy
splitting an arrow that was stuck in a peg in the middle of a bull's-
eye. William Tell was busy shooting apples off his son's head.
Odysseus had forgotten to bring along his Great Bow, having left it at
Ithaca. Tonto had forsaken archery, having been convinced that six-
shooters were more effective. Tom Mix and his Ralston Straight
Shooters were occupied heading the Black Hat Gang off at the pass,
besides which they weren't licensed to use bows and arrows. Corliss
Archer was off playing Kiss and Tell. And George Archer was plotting
with John Daniels to organize a linseed oil company, their ultimate
objective being to put more shine on arrow shafts.
