In RotK the main battles take in and around Gondor/Mordor. There is mention
of battles also being fought in Lorien, Mirkwood and in the Dale. I'm
looking for more information on these and possibly other battles that
occurred during the War of the Ring. I have read UT, Sil, TH and LotR and
not fond much on this topic. I'm assuming what I'm looking for is in the
HoME.
Will someone please direct me to the books that contain more information on
these battles? I have looked over SJ's and SB's FAQ's and don't think I need
to read the HoME books in order. If there is an ordering for the information
that I'm looking for please include that information also.
Thanks,

Perhaps the Extended RotK DVD will give us additional details about
the battles.

I think what you are looking for does not exist. As far as I recall,
HoME does not contain any additional information about those battles.
Most of everything in HoME that relates to LotR are drafts that trace
the evolution of the story. It contains little "new" information.
It does contain all sorts of interesting stuff, and is a fascinating
read, but much of "new" information is stuff that was later replaced.

I believe almost all the information available on those battles (other than the
Fords of Isen) are exclusive to the Appendices.

I'm curious as to what PJ could add to the movie that is not in the books?
