| At the end of The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, Peter et al hunt
the White Stag because it can grant wishes to those who capture it.
Does that mean that the White Stag is a sapient being? Can it talk?
What wishes did Peter et al have anyway?

| At the end of The Lion, The Witch, And The Wardrobe, Peter et al hunt the

of catching the White Stag, they blundered into the wardrobe and back to
Earth, losing 15 years off their age in the process. I suspect that the
White Stag was Aslan in disguise, leading the Fantastic Four home.

I always wondered how much the kids missed their family and their life back
home while they were reigning in Narnia. I guess that life in WW 2 England
was so horrible that at first they didn't want to go back.

IMHO, they should have sent an envoy (Tumnus) back through the wardrobe to tell
the Professor about events in Narnia and ask for advice on how to govern
Narnia. I've also wondered about the possibility of sending Narnian troops to
our world to fight the Nazis. >> Stay informed about: The White Stag |

The white stag is a good boy, isn't he? But still he likes to hang
out in hollows. He symbolizes longevity because he keeps his bodily
juices to himself and we all know that is why monks embrace
celibacy.
So, is he sapient? The Buddhist would say he is sentient, as all
living creatures are to whatever degree they can be, due to the brain
body ratio Y=AX.
As for speaking, I am assuming you refer to the use of a natural
language that Peter could understand? Well, I think you have asked
the wrong question. The question should be: Is the White Stag
digitized?

I thought this was about the white hag!
Be warned - don't let your kids look at the Times online. There's a
very grim white hag pictured there, calls herself Don. Also a long-
haired scary sort of guy called Mad Dox. Guaranteed to give you
nightmares. It would be much easier if Jeremy Clarkson had his own
website, then we wouldn't have to subject ourselves to these obscene
images!

I don't *know* the answer to that last, but almost certainly a host of
wishes, conscious, unconscious, and semi-conscious, just as you yourself
do, Tim, or I, or almost any mortal in a less-than-perfect world does. (For
example, Peter in the closing section of LWW, having fully come to man's
estate, might have wished for a particular woman whom he could love and
call his Queen, without the seemingly necessary step of one of his
sisters' renouncing her throne or dying.)
As for the previous two questions, would you say that a wishing well from
our world is a sentient being, and could one talk, even if the well were
genuine, and grants almost all of the wishes made on it?
Don't, as Lewis advised elsewhere, "...munch whipped cream as though it
were venison" -- don't analyze humorous or very minor details using the
same equipment as you would for the main points of the tale, because they
won't stand the same degrees of scrutiny. Or, in the vernacular, lighten
up!
