Which I hadn't seen for years was on FX today -- nice template
for ship battles in the Honorverse. Broadsides, even!

Heh, I love that movie in all it's campy glory. Though I don't think the
broadsides happen quite so close together in the Honorverse, nor do we see
much fighter combat, at least not until the later books.

Incidentally, have you read the Wing Commander books (I think also offered by
Baen), they're a lot of fun.

played the computer game at least up to the point where i found that
ramming those blasted stealth fighters was a perfectly valid way to
kill them.

Yeah, ramming is pretty much an entirely legitimate tactic in WC2. In
fact, the Ferret is superbly designed for ramming the Sarthi light fighters
in WC2, just wait for your sheilds to charge back up again before you go in
for another ram.
