> "The 2008 Hans Christian Andersen Awards, announced March 31 at the
> Bologna Book Fair, went to Swiss author Jurg Schubiger and Italian
> illustrator Roberto Innocenti."
And, I forgot to add, those are the first times Switzerland and Italy
have won those respective HCA awards. However, they have won the
opposite awards before - see below.
HCA Award for Writing: 1970 Gianni Rodari (Italy)
HCA Award for Illustration: 1966 Alois Carigiet (Switzerland, "A
Bell for Ursli" - but my favorite is "The Snowstorm") and 1994 Jörg
Müller (Switzerland, "The Bear Who Wanted to Be a Bear")
The 2008 medals will be presented at the official ceremony in
September.
The next HCA Awards will be in 2010.
Lenona.
