In both the movie and the book, when Peter, Edmund, Susan, and Lucy were
at the Beavers', they were told
that it had long been foretold that 2 Sons of Adam and 2 Daughters of
Eve would defeat the White Witch and sit on the four thrones at Cair
Paravel. The White Witch knew of the prophecy, so she ordered her
subjects to inform her of any humans they found skulking in the woods,
and when Edmund showed up, she asked him to bring his brother and two
sisters to her so that she could kill them and abort the prophecy. Why
didn't she simply send her giants to smash those four thrones and the
entire castle so that no one could sit in them to fulfill the prophecy
about Adam's flesh and bone sitting in those thrones?
Page 38 of "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe": Chapter 8: What
happened after dinner: Mr. Beaver quotes the prophecy: "When Adam's
flesh and Adam's bone Sits at Cair Paravel in throne, The evil time will
be over and done.". Logic dictates that if Cair Paravel were to be
destroyed by the Witch's giants, Adam's flesh and bone would not be able
to sit at Cair Paravel in throne, so that the witch would be able to
rule forever! >> Stay informed about: The Witch And Cair Paravel: LWW Movie And Book Spoilers |

Prophecies are tricky things. Note: she could have killed Edmund right
off then there wouldn't be two sons of adam and two daughters of eve.
The prophecy itself doesn't require 4, nor does it require the old
thrones. Prophecy has a way of working things out unexpectedly and the
Incarnation is a good example.

If the White Witch had destroyed the entire castle of Cair Paravel, how
would the prophecy regarding Adam's flesh and bone sitting in throne in
Cair Paravel have been fulfilled? >> Stay informed about: The Witch And Cair Paravel: LWW Movie And Book Spoilers |

Time destroyed Cair Paravel between LWW and PC, but it was still
to Cair Paravel that the children returned.
Jadis could do no more.

I was thinking in terms of Jadis sending her Giant friends (I saw three
Giants in her army in the movie) to physically smash the castle and the
thrones, so that no one would be able to sit "in thone in Cair Paravel". >> Stay informed about: The Witch And Cair Paravel: LWW Movie And Book Spoilers |

If her giants were able to smash *anyone* who might try to rebuild
Cair Paravel and the thrones, they'd have won the climactic battle
by themselves, even after Jadis was killed.

If she's able to do that, then the evil time /isn't/ "over and done".
The prophecy is *de*scriptive, not *pre*scriptive. Aslan doesn't set the
kids on a sneak raid into the castle to sit on the thrones--he sends
them off to battle the witch.
"When Adam's flesh and Adam's bone
Sits at Cair Paravel in throne,
The evil time will be over and done."
Is Cair Paravel the name of a place, or the name of the castle at that
place, or both? "at Cair Paravel" suggests that it's at least the name
of the place. And any chair--or log, or rock--will do for a throne, if a
divinely-ordained monarch wants to do business there.

Why didn't the White Witch, the giants, and her other monsters occupy Cair
Paravel themselves, as a way to keep the evil time going? Cair Paravel
looked like a hard place to assault. >> Stay informed about: The Witch And Cair Paravel: LWW Movie And Book Spoilers |

For Aslan? I would think not.

The way for the Witch to maintain her rule it to kill or petrify anyone
who opposes her. Sitting around somewhere waiting for them to come to
her might work, but her inclination is to go out and hunt them down.
