Beast says "two hundred," far enough after the fact that any updated
countings could have been made. His speech is about how far down
mutants have been brought, not how far down a government surveillance
program believed mutants to be immediately after the event.

In chapter 10, he checks into MGH. The dealer has a room stocked
with vials, all of which became inert after M-Day, with no trace of
mutant DNA. The dealer says he did have one stash that remained
active, and they were all from a mutant who had retained his powers.
Before he checked into MGH, he and Dark Beast checked corpses of
mutants (in Genosha?) I forget the chapter number of that one. >> Stay informed about: New Wolverine Look |

Look again dummy! Initiaive #5, page 8, panel 2, Gyrich, off panel, his
EXACT words, 'We place the actual number at around 300. But only 198
have been calalouged.' After Constrictor asks Gyrich is when he says
Mutant 0 is 199. That mean that 199 to 300 are possible latents or are
workng undercover or other things. For securty reasons is why Gyrich
later says she doesn't exist. Do your research before you try to take me
on! I am a god (little 'g') of trivia! In my area people forfeit rather
than play me in radio trivia contests. I have wonevery local trivial
pursuit contest I have entered, I win free food and tickets from every
radio station every time it's legal for me to win! That's the advantage
of being old and the manager of a comic shop. >> Stay informed about: New Wolverine Look |

This is where it all falls apart. How does anyone know if a baby is
born with an x-gene? Even Cerebro/a couldn't detect mutants until they
manifested their abilities. Why should it suddenly be possible to know
if every child born in the world has an x-gene at birth? I'd wager that
if one newborn is born a mutant then there must be others. >> Stay informed about: New Wolverine Look |

OK, I misread it as 200 or something. Just don't get upset about it. >> Stay informed about: New Wolverine Look |

Don't worry about Tyval. I've known him on-line since '99. He's a
showoff! He's also damn good! I'm 50 and a 43 year reader of comic books
and I also worked in a comic book shop for 10 years and even I can't
beat him in trivia. He was just rubbing it in. He's not a bad guy when
you get to know him. >> Stay informed about: New Wolverine Look |

Fairly insulting tone, considering I didn't say you were wrong.
I said it is a contradiction with Endangered Species, which it is.
And that was my point. Marvel hasn't got the idea behind Decimation
straight between its various writers, editors, and other personel,
which leads to contradictory facts. (Not just confusion or characters
being wrong in-story, but stories effectively being written to
different "realities." >> Stay informed about: New Wolverine Look |

That bothered me too. I decided it might mean they could detect those few
mutants who were obviously mutants from birth -- like Nightcrawler was.
But really all that machine could detect was new manifestations of mutant
power. As far as I know, it couldn't detect the age of the mutant that was
getting their powers. >> Stay informed about: New Wolverine Look |

the same
