I guess I didn't mention this in here yet -- so, just a short note
(for those who're interested).

I had colon cancer 24 years ago. Been clear ever since. But have
colonoscopies every three years.
The last one (in March) found that I've got new growth down there.

So, I've been running around from MD to lab to clinic for the past 3
weeks.
Well, I've been poked and prodded and de-blooded and x-rayed and CT
scanned up the ying-yang. Got three tattoos on my hips and tailbone.
Go to the outpatient thingie at the hospital Monday morning to have
the 'port' put in my upper chest. Then, on Tuesday, I'll have the
chemo pump attached (wear it 24/7) and have the first of my
5-days-a-week radiation treatments.
This is supposed to go on for 6 weeks.
Then there'll be a waiting period (of 6 weeks??) to let the
chemo/radiation finish its work. Followed by more exams to see how
effective it was.
Followed (we're assuming) by surgery. In the summer.
Good news, I'm not supposed to lose my hair.
Bad news, can't take a shower or more than a super shallow bath for 6
weeks.
That's about all we know for now.
Warning! -- I'll continue to be lurking. Smile

You can pretend to be the heroine of a Jane Austen novel and take
a "sponge bath". (Not that Austen ever mentions bathing. But
you get the idea.)

I'll keep my fingers crossed. Sending *hugs*!

Ouch...I've had a couple of my own ...um, "experiences" with the dubious
pleasures of being a surgery patient in a hospital (including a stent
implant -- and NOW the experts say lots of stent implants weren't
necessary!) but nothing on the scale that I suspect you'll be experiencing.

>Good news, I'm not supposed to lose my hair.

I *could* offer you some hair if you need it, but I fear that I don't have
much left (especially after 45+ years of working on computers).

>Bad news, can't take a shower or more than a super shallow
>bath for 6 weeks.

Does a shower of (virtual) chococococolate violate the doctor's orders? I
think that we can arrange for one if you're interested.

So...lots of luck. If there's anything we can do for you, just ask; that's
what friends are for.

Sending the very very best thoughts to her seniorness.

If your blood pressure's ok, you can always take the Sharpe series
with you. I understand they're really good.
