I would have Gold Team which has in the team, Storm, Cyclops, Rachel
Summers, Gladiator, then Red Team which has Kitty, SpiderMan(when
needed), Cable, DeadPool, FireStar!

Time to be evil!!

Wouldn't it be the blue team, instead of the red team?
And technically, wouldn't they have to be mutants to be included? (excluding
the Mimic and the Juggernaut, of course)
But, to play your game, I would have (picking only people who have actually
claimed to be an x before hand)

Gold Team: (loud team, team that was the public face, and team that could
probably beat the Avengers and every other team yawning)

Jean Grey, (just need a psychic, and for quick
communication, a la Jonn for JLA)
Storm, (aerial support and team leader)
Wolverine, (badass #1)
Juggernaut, (badass #2)
Magneto, (to put the fear of God into the
oppoents)
Cable, (backup psychic)
Angel, (either the current self-healing one, or
Archangel)
M, (for anaylsis on the field)
Cannonball, (I needed someone quick, but I
couldn't pick Quicksilver, plus he's
beaten Gladiator, too, so it's not too
odd a choice.)
Mimic, (wild card, plus, everyone that's on the
battlefield he can counter because of
his abilities, not to mention having the
founding fives original powers as well.)

Blue Team: (quiet team, sneaky, thinking team, kinda like coprate espional)

Cyclops, (leader)
Nightcrawler, (local transport)
Psylocke, (telepath, not tekenieses),
Sage, (working with Forge, (I wonder how these
two would actually get along?))
Mysqtue, (espionage #1, and a shape-shifter to
boot!)
Rogue, (wild card, capable of many things, also
heavy lifter on team)
Gambit, (thief, of course)
Kitty, (espionage #2)
Forge, (inventor for spy gadgets)
Beast (thinking man #2)

I've never actually tried one of these dream team things.

Let's see Cyclops as team leader, Jean as the team telepath, Wolverine
and Jubilee because I like them hanging out together, Kitty because
she's a genius, another tought fighter and adds to the
Wolverine/Jubilee dynamic. Cannonball as second in command plus if
he's holding someone when he's in his blast field doesn't it protect
them too? Iceman. Another joker and they need some sort of nature
type power. It's not Storm's weather control but everything has a
freezing point and there's moiture everywhere to be used. And
Wolfsbane. She can learn control from Wolverine.

Cannonball - Team leader, tactician - About time Sam got his props as a more
experienced and versatileteam leader than almost any X-Man ever, plus it'd
be interesting to see how some older teammates handle it.

Nightcrawler - Deputy Leader - After discovering the Draco was a complete
falsehood engineered by... Oh I don't care... Nightcrawler returns as the
sword wielding swashbuckling hero we knew and loved, still has strong
religious faith.

Cyclops - Just because he's Cyclops (But lose the cowl). No longer wanting
to be team leader, but it there when they need him.

Storm - Too versatile a power to lose.

Psylocke - (Pre ninja-hooker era, I want the original Betsy back)
Communications, telepathy and telekinesis

Iceman - Neat powers, somewhat goofy outlook and a great visual (Hey, we
have to take PR into account)

Beast - Hey, gotta love Hank. Strength and agility, plus scientific smarts.

Rogue - Following the tragically slow, painful and completely irreversible
demise of Gambit (This is a _dream_ team), the baseline "no powers at all
unless she leeches someone" Rogue joins the team.

Cypher - Research, systems support, Occasional team member (Plus we get
that whole weird vibe with Betsy)

Wilvoerin - VERY occasional team member (Simply because I know he'd show up
sooner or later anyway!)

But for the team to really be functional, you need to add Bird-Brain.

I've always believed that smaller teams are better. My X-Men dream team:

Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Shadowcat, Wolverine and Colossus.

I like the idea of a shadow group, so in separate title, let's call it
Shadow X:

Mystique, Rachel Summers, Canonball, Havok and Juggernaut.

What about Gossamer? Doesn't she deserve to be barbequed as well?

You mean "Gossamyr". As no one had mentioned her I'd hoped she had been
forgotten. If she has to show up, well, it'd be nice if her pheremones had a
weird effect on Wolfsbane, who instantly uses her as a major scratching
post.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->
