Absolutely not. In fact, I can think of more that should downgrade their
powers. The more powerful a character is, the more boring they become
(typically).

Yeah, I miss the days when a limited power was actually a spur to _creative_
storytelling, plasma energy blasters bore me rigid, give me the likes of
Cypher, Artie, Shortpack or the like any day.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Not tertiary mutation, then... (nor teratory...)

Well, they all have those television/intercom eyeglasses now.

I remember Dazzler, before she joined, had a Walkman-size
device to generate coherent sound, which would drive her sound-
to-light powers (and make a dandy panic alarm). But I think it got
busted.

Did Bishop ever use something similar? Did Cyclops?

I hate them because they are waaaay too expensive for comparable electronics, but you
can't beat size/power ratio than a Bose. Smile

I always thought it would be cool if, due to some bizarre and
illogical plot twist that laughs in the face of continuity, the
X-Men all lost their powers for a time (a month or two), and then
regained them. But all the X-Men would regain someone else's power.

It's interesting to think about what would happen and how the
characters would change if they woke up with a new power and had to
start again training themselves from scratch. Given this scenario,
who do you think should get who's power, and to what extent?

Gah. That reminds me of the six month gap where they did lose their
powers, and then Betsy and Jean had sort of switched powers.

Isn't the retcon version of that device used to wipe out anyone from the

Reminds me of Power Pack, though in their case it made more sense.
