I can see Xavier staying without his powers for long, or Magneto staying
dead for long...
I have the feeling some mutants are going, one way or another, to get their
powers back like Polaris. I just hope they will not forget Mirage. It is a
crying shame to have her out of the Marvel Universe.

Isn't like the Shiar people having a whole machine thing hooked up
with Xavier? Im thinking they might repower him as a soldier-ultimate
weapon kinda thing. Might go have have a mega battle with D'Ken or
Vulcan with that matter. Plus he will be in the world war hulk series
so it would be just stupid to have hulk fight a disabled little guy.
As for Magneto who knows?? I mean if you have Xavier you gotta have
good old Magnus to lift some metal.

P.S Whats going on with Quicksilver??

I have no doubt that some mutants will get their powers back
eventually (especially Magneto), but Brubaker has already said not all
the X-Men will come back from space so I'm hoping Xavier will be
killed off or, more likely, be left in space with Lillandra...he's
needed to die for a couple decades now.

I really don't see Polaris returning if Havok stays in space
(especially after last issue). It's possible that Darwin will return,
but he might sacrifice himself. A part of me is seeing the ending
having a big Darwin vs. Vulcan fight.

Xavier is definitely returning to Earth, too, because he's going to be

By machinery, do you mean the torture device he was strapped into a
few issues ago? Xavier has been D'Ken's prisoner, and is set to be
executed. He's the guy who will need to be rescued, not the guy going
to the rescue. (And I still figure odds are decent that either D'Ken
or Vulcan will turn on the other as part of the end of the series.)

Unless you instead mean some previews, or something.

Hmm...possibilities to stay behind include Havok, who might try to work
with Corsaid to "fix" Vulcan; Xavier, who may end up on Lilandra's good
side when it's all said and done; and Rachel, who ends up with Goku. Or
whatever name Goku is using in this book. Nightcrawler and Warpath are
definitely going back. Probably Polaris, too.

I think the skrull had a machine that turned Marrow into a beautiful young
woman totally in control of her powers. This kind of machine could help the
former mutants to go back to their previous glory...

I hope Darwin will become a chartered member of the X-Men. It would be a
shame to have all the deadly genesis members killed off and forgotten.
Having him permanently will add an extra dimension to the comic.

It is clear that Polaris and Havok will always be a "default" item. When
writers do not know what to do with them, they hook them up. Let have them
married and having kids.

Is Warpath still flying or did he lost this extra power? What about the
strong attraction between him and Mirage?

Maybe, but I think there might be a difference in altering appearance
and building a gene. Mind you, I don't think it's impossible at all to
build a gene in the MU, but Marvel doesn't seem to want to go there at
the moment.

I agree. The only problem I see here is that Darwin isn't "pretty"
enough. Even Nightcrawler is portrayed as handsome, despite the
trappings of a demon-like form. Even Beast has a certain charm. Darwin
doesn't have it. If he sticks around and becomes popular I have no
doubt he'll manage to become gorgeous.

As long as Lorna isn't a nutjob like she was under whatsisname, I'm okay
with them being together. But it's true that writers seem to only know
how to do default relationships. Jean dies, Scott goes to Maddie. Jean
resurrected, Scott ditches Maddie for Jean. Now Scott's with Emma while
Jean is dead, but what happens when she inevitably returns? I hope
writers are willing to make this relationship stick.

Brubaker decided to ignore the flying and make it super-leaping. It
makes much more sense. Edgington and Ellis did some strange things with
X-Force that I never really liked.

Can't he change his appearance in order to "adapt?" I wonder how much his
appearance reflects his self-image.

Interesting spin. If he has to appeal to the crowds, he might adapt by
looking better. At least it's a better explanation than artists just
deciding they now look good. (Remember when Rogue was about 40-50 years
old? Then, once she joined the X-Men, she became girl in her
mid-teens.)

The 40-or-50-year-old look was always bad art. In her introduction when
she fought the Avengers, she was portrayed in the writing as young and
inexperienced. Her main appearances prior to her involvement with the
X-Men took place in Dazzler, over the course of about year's worth of
issues, and she was portrayed as a teen fan-girl there, with Mystique and
Destiny acting parental.

For interesting thought material on this general subject, refer to the
She-Hulk's wannabe sidekick in the second (I think) version of her comic, a
former golden age 'masked adventurere' type heroine who came out of
retirement and attached herself to Shulkie because that way she wouldn't
age.

On the mutant side, there's Ma Guthrie, who steadily grew younger every
time she re-appeared.

You're assuming a level of continuity that no longer exists at
Marvel...he may well stay depowered and stay in space and still show
up in World War Hulk...perhaps even with his powers intact...the mess
that is Civil War has proven all bets are off.
