Um...unless you're running a 12-hour shift you'll be encountering the
<adjective censored> drunk drivers when you get off. The statistics
of how many drivers on the road are demonstrably "under the influence"
is -- pardon the pun -- staggering.

I'll admit that as a senior engineer (and now -- $DEITY help me -- once
again a manager) I'm making a decent salary, but it *would* be nice if I
got paid for overtime. Or even a bonus, something I've never had. (The
two full-time, full year jobs I've held in the past 40 years were for
a state government and a nonprofit research firm, neither of which offer
bonus payments to employees.)

Amen to that last. It also helps for me that there aren't many users
running around, meaning that I can get my work done with fewer
interruptions.
