Post subject: New book proposes use of Star Trek to disempower terroism
Archived from groups: alt>startrek>books (more info?)

Dear fellow Trekie,

I am the author of a new book just out, "Look the Future
Straight in the Eye," that develops a new approach to disempowering
terrorism. Not to make war on it, but to directly disempower it.

The approach is to use the latest scientific information on
how the human brain really works to give potential converts the power
to choose a positive alternative while building powerful, positive
images of viable alternatives. Star Trek has so often been a source
for such images. One of the examples in my book of such a positive
image is a new treatment for a Star Trek Enterprise episode.

The book is my advice to young people starting careers in
science and engineering in a post 9/11 world. The disempowering
information comes from new understandings of how we empower people to
accomplish major technical projects, from building the pyramids to
building a commercial spaceship.

Additional information on my book can be found at the URL
below. I would be happy to exchange emails on how Star Trek could be
used to disempowering terrorism with readers of this news group. I
would be most happy to hear from students of science, engineering,
technology, creative writing, and film making.

Thanks,

Tom Riley
