I read a book in the '80s about a woman named Janet whose grandmother died.
The cause of death was listed as food poisoning from something she preserved
herself. Janet got suspicious of that because her grandmother was so
meticulous. With the help of a Canadian Mountie she found out who murdered
her grandmother. I really enjoyed this book and would like to read it again
and anything else by this author. I was sure the title was 'The Mason Jar
Murder' but cannot find that in any list of books - in print or out. Does
this sound familiar to anyone?

Although it wasn't Janet's grandmother--just a neighbor--this sounds
suspiciously like "A Pint of Murder" by Alisa Craig (1980). Craig was a
pseudonym used by Charlotte MacLeod.<!-- ~MESSAGE_AFTER~ -->

Thank you so much! I have had this in the back of my head for a decade and
now I finally have an answer. My library even has several copies.
